Question: I hope you can help me here. The other day I set off for work leaving my husband in the house watching the TV as usual. I hadn't driven more than a mile down the road when the engine conked out and the car shuddered to a halt. I walked back home to get my husband's help. When I got home I couldn't believe my eyes. He was in our bedroom with the neighbor's daughter. I am 41, my husband is 44, and the neighbor's daughter is 22. We've been married for 10 years.
When I confronted him, he broke down and admitted that they've been having an affair for the past 6 months. I told him to stop or I would leave him. He was let go from his job 6 months ago and he says he's been feeling increasingly depressed and worthless. I love him very much, but ever since I gave him the ultimatum he has become increasingly distant. He won't go to counseling and I'm afraid I can't get through to him anymore.
Can you please help?

Answer: Dear Sheila:
A car stalling after being driven a short distance can be caused by a variety of faults with the engine. Start by checking that there is no debris in the fuel line. If it's clear, check for vacuum leaks and hoses on the intake manifold, and also check all grounding wires. If none of these approaches solves the problem, it could be that the fuel pump itself is faulty, causing low delivery pressure to the injectors.
I hope this helps, Larry

Question: I have a 2000 Plymouth Voyager, and my wife told me it feels like it peels out when she starts from a stop sign. I tried it and it feels like something is slipping, and shimmies slightly when I push on the gas hard. I checked the wheel bearing and the brake pad on the driver\'s side, because it felt like it was coming from there, and they seemed fine. Any suggestions?
- Josh
Answer: Josh, From the symptoms nothing comes to mind. We would need to drive the
vehicle to experience the problem. Stop by the shop and someone can drive
with you and see what it is.

Answer: Johnny, Thanks for the question. This happens alot. As a belt gets old
and worn it gets loose on the pulleys. This engine does not have
self-adjusters. The belts need to be replaced or adjusted. When starting
up in the morning alot of power is taken from the battery. The alternator
has a bigger load put on it at this time, also the belt is cold, thus
causing the noise. I have found that dressing doesn't work very well. We
could inspect your belts anytime you can bring the car in. Thank you,
Larry
